$cammed again for more $$ January 9, 2009 Neil McKay (Columbia Heights, Minnesota United States) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'd give this 5 stars but I'm rating the item. While the show is great even though the whole god thing is getting a little hokey (IMHO), I feel ripped off having to purchase this with Razor included, no option whatsoever. I paid good money for Razor when it came out and now I'm getting it again? I wish they had the option of not including it for a cheaper price and I agree with everyone else about the whole 0.0 1.2 4.1 stuff. Just give us the whole thing. Otherwise, amazing show, great bonus features and I appreciate the writing, eye candy, and ironic (we'll see) ending on the last show of the last disc. Great to watch in surround sound as well. Again, if you are going to do the .1 .2 thing, please don't make us buy what we may already have or at least give us the option.
Great Series January 9, 2009 rjgsphinx (Marietta, GA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
The ONLY reason that this is 4, not 5, stars is that it annoys me that they split the season in 2 (4.0, 4.5) This series is well written and thought out and is better than the original. Very impressed, highly recommended.
Half a Season; Half the Fulfillment January 8, 2009 Glimmer (Iowa) 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought Season 4 and discovered I had only bought the first half of Season 4. This wasn't clear when I ordered. If I had known, I might have waited till all came out. I'm not looking forward to ending the shows halfway and then having to wait another 6-9 months.
The Best Drama on Television. January 8, 2009 Michael Bettine (Milwaukee, WI United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Let's see, less than $32 for 10 amazing episodes and an extended version of Razor - not a bad deal. The people who are complaining about it only being the 1st half of the season probably would think nothing of spending twice the amount on a video game or cigarettes. What we get here is some of the most challenging television drama ever written and portrayed. Just when you think you have things figured out, you find out you really have no idea what's going on. Not only are the humans flawed and having doubts about themselves, but we also find the Cylons just as flawed and doubtful. Their solidarity and purpose gets questioned, splitting them into two waring factions - how human is that? And we also find some of our favorite humans, some who have struggled the most to truly find their humanity in all this madness, are really Cylons! Then what would they have our two protagonists do, but form an uneasy alliance, and just as they reach the promised land together, they find it's gone. Wow, where did that one come from? It doesn't get any better than this. Highly recommended. I look forward to the final ten episodes. ~ MB
Razor Included in this Set January 7, 2009 Brandon J. Smith 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have only one criticism of this Battlestar Galactica DVD release, and in a sense it is not really a criticism... The movie "Battlestar Galactica: Razor" is included in this set. That's great for this set, but if I had known that it would be included, I would not have purchased Razor on its original release. So, for those of you building your collection, I recommend either waiting for the inevitable complete series box set to come out or note that you do not need to buy Razor separately. As for the content itself, what can I say? The show is brilliant and belongs to the pantheon of "all time best shows" along with The Sopranos, The Wire, The West Wing, and Homicide: Life on the Street (to name a few). As with the other seasons' box sets, there are fascinating commentaries and some good special features. But of course the main feature here is the episodes, and this season (or, rather, half-season) is no exception. It's great stuff, and I recommend it to television fans, whether you generally enjoy science fiction or not.
